New Thing: Cloud Dough

One of my summer goals was to try something new with my son each week.  This week it was CLOUD DOUGH.  I'd seen this on several blogs, and with an open morning today, we decided to try it out.  I used this link's recipe, and these ingredients:
I started mixing with a spoon and then gave up and used my hands (shudder).  I also added a bit more baby oil than it called for!
My son LOVE LOVE LOVED playing with this stuff!  I don't let him get messy like this very often (mainly because I have a deeply rooted fear of this type of mess), but I gritted my teeth and let him do it, and even got a little messy myself, too.  I think he liked the texture, because he could squeeze it and make it solid, like this:
Or he could just crumble it up with is fingers.  I did this on my clean-the-floors day, and it sure was a good thing, because by the time it was all over, we had made a huge mess!
 Take aways:
  • This was so simple, cheap, and fun.  I had all the ingredients and didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to do this special thing.
  • Next time, I'm going to lay down a tarp or do it outside.  Getting the flour out of the teeny spaces between the floor boards was a pain!
