While this is indeed depressing, and I am tempted to begin mourning, I decided to instead look at my progress on my summer goals! I posted this originally on May 25th, and since then I have accomplished quite a bit:
Go on a family mini-vaycay- done and chronicled here and hereOrganize our neighborhoood garage sale and have one myself (June 2nd - come by!)- done and chronicled here and hereNap!- done, but it throws off my nighttime sleep schedule, so I decided to stopCome up with a daily chore schedule and stick to it (instead of doing everything on the weekends)- I have done more of a routine of cleaning everything that needs cleaned in the morning before the family gets up, or, if my son gets up early, as he's playing with puzzles or coloring at the table. This seemed a better fit than a list.Yard sale on Thursdays and Fridays- Yep! check out my Yard Sale label!Go to our 10 year HS reunionGo to Wichita to visit friends- last weekend! We even got to see my missionary-cousin who is back for a month from Indonesia! SUCH a blessing to see her!Get away for at least one night for our 8th anniversary- we didn't "get away," but we did go to our favorite anniversary restaurant in KC for dinnerFind out whether we're having a boy or girl and, if it's a girl, start stocking up for girl stuff at yard sales- check - it's a girl (though the stocking up part is ongoing)Host a 4th of July party for the parade!- we did not do this because our front yard is not done. We had a few friends over but kept it very simple.Go to the pool every day, or almost every day- we go a lot!Be outside more (even though I hate the heat and taste like straight sugar to mosquitoes)- I am removing this goal, not because I have accomplished it, but because I think it's stupid. I got eaten alive (50+ bites...seriously. Ask my husband) after 10 minutes outside. I have welts, scabs, and red spots all over my midsection. Thanks for that, outside.Build up a maternity wardrobe from yard saling and gift cards I've saved from my birthday- this post and another sale that I hit (which I apparently didn't document) have tripled my maternity wardrobe! And I haven't used a single gift card :)
- Practice being a stay-at-home mom and see how I like it - ongoing...there will be a post about this when summer is over
- Go to Tulsa to visit my brother and sister-in-law at least once - hoping to nail this down by the 3rd week in July
- Throw a killer baby shower for my sister-in-law! - next weekend! I've already written a post about an artsy project I am particularly proud of, but I'm saving it so my SIL will be surprised :)
- Get family pictures taken! - on the calendar for July 21st!
- Cook and bake much more often!
- Help prepare for VBS and head up Rec (new thing...I've always either taught or done music!)- my prep work is nearly done and we start Monday!
- Take my son on play-dates a few times a week (even if it means I have to spend a little money) - ongoing
- Read constantly - eh...I have not been as good about this. It's so hard to read with extra time when my husband is home, because we do things together!
- Try something new with my son each week - I was very intentional about this the first few weeks, but have really dropped the ball lately
- Potty-train my son* - haven't even started...oi...
- Write my maternity lesson plans...ugh - I have NO motivation to do this. Fortunately, most of the work is done for me because I saved all my stuff from last year. The only work I have to do is pacing and the actual lesson planning, which won't take that long. I'm putting it off mainly because I'm not sure exactly what I'll be teaching. The other thing is that I'm doing at least one (possibly both) integrated units with a new team member while I'm on maternity leave. That sucks.
- Finish 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home - did great for the first three weeks, but then I had a particularly busy week, then the 4th, and now I only have one more week to go! I need to finish!
- Finish my Bible study on the book of James - we took a week off and now I'm a few days behind...gotta catch up!
- Save well this month for my trip to LA! - a friend of mine just moved to LA and my sister-in-law and I are flying out to spend a few days with her at the end of July. The flight was paid for out of my garage sale money, and board is free, but there will obviously be other expenses. I'm going to have to be creative with the budget if I want to squeeze enough money out without touching savings!
