My Absence from the Blogwaves

I have recently been very irritated at all my friends who blog for not updating their blogs. I know...it's a black pot and kettle thing.

In all the time I have had this blog, this is the longest I have ever gone without posting. I have several posts in the works, but the truth is but it has been an incredibly full/busy/exhausting/exhilarating whirlwind of a quarter. I'm 31. I'm mother of an almost-kindergartener. My adorable daughter is in full swing of the terrible twos. My husband was offered a job on the East coast which we were forced to consider. I won a cool award at work. I helped direct the play. I'm losing the person who has made perhaps the largest single contribution to my career as an educator (after my parents). My department is changing. My curriculum is changing. My kids (who are quite possibly the best group of students I have had in my nine years) are heading out. My brother and sister-in-law found out they're having a boy. I'm fighting a deep-seated battle with forgiveness. Tomorrow is Mother's Day, and my mom is the coolest. And yesterday my son asked, "Mommy, can I sit in your lap and we can just talk about how much we love each other?"

I feel like each one of these things deserves its own post simply so I can use the writing of it to help process the fact that it is happening and it is changing me. Perhaps I will get to it sometime soon, or maybe not until school lets out. The great news on that front is that the end is in sight. Ten more days with kids, then one more day of work, then summer.
