Summer Goals - My Results

I originally posted 24 goals at the beginning of the summer.  In early July, I was able to label 13 as "DONE" and 7 as "IN PROGRESS."  Not too bad for the middle of the summer.  That left 7 in progress and 4 yet to be done.  And then I added 3 more...

 Here's how I ended up:
  • Practice being a stay-at-home mom and see how I like it - Done - and I will post about it once my going-back-to-school emotions all get settled :)
  • Go to Tulsa to visit my brother and sister-in-law at least once - Done! We ended up with two trips because my niece was born!
  • Throw a killer baby shower for my sister-in-law! - Done, and I will get a post up about it eventually! I didn't take any pictures - FAIL, I know - but my mom did, so once I get them from her I'll put some up
  • Get family pictures taken! - Done, but my son screamed pretty much the whole time, so I'm kind of dreading the outcome...
  • Help prepare for VBS and head up Rec (new thing...I've always either taught or done music!)- Done! Rec really isn't my thing, but I helped out and had fun all the same
  • Take my son on play-dates a few times a week (even if it means I have to spend a little money) -We did go on several playdates, but I don't know if it was necessarily more than once a week.
So there are five of my original 24 that did not make the COMPLETED list:
  • Cook and bake much more often! - I cooked and baked about the same amount as during the school year, if we're honest.  I did try out a few new recipes though!
  • Read constantly - I think I have completed a grand total of four books this summer - I can't remember a time when I've read less.  However, I console myself with the fact that I was spending quality time with my husband because he was here, when normally I read when he is gone.
  • Try something new with my son each week - I probably did this, but not intentionally, so it doesn't count
  • Potty-train my son - this was simply not going to happen.  He knows every letter in the alphabet, knows the sounds they make, and can name at least one word that starts with that letter, but he doesn't understand what pee is.  Oi.
  • Write my maternity lesson plans - nope, but I'm cutting myself some slack, here.  Our pacing isn't finnalized, and the last thing I want to do is write up a bunch of lesson plans only to have them change once school starts.  I already have all the procedural stuff from last time, so the only thing I'm doing is the LPs themselves, which really shouldn't take that long.
I added these in July, but I did not foresee that the whirlwind of my trip to CA and the surprise birth of my niece would cause me to be gone for nearly two weeks!
  • Finish 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home - I have not done week 4 - I was planning to do it after CA but we went to see my niece and I didn't...
  • Finish my Bible study on the book of James - I have not been in 2 weeks because of being gone!
  • Save well this month for my trip to LA! - hmm...save well, maybe not so much, but I did go on it and stick to my budget, so I'm crossing it off!

So, out of 27 goals, I accomplished 20 - that's a 74%.  Passing, but very average.  However, if I consider that Potty Training, LPs, Bible Study, and Organized Home were acted upon by forces outside my control, the percentage goes up to 87!  Better.  I can deal with that.  Either way, I accomplished 20 big tasks this summer!  Not bad.
