After Jesus and family, Jack Lewis is probably the person I am most looking forward to meeting in heaven. I have read many of his works and biographies, and he seems to be a man whose brilliance was truly meant for more than this world. He has a way of being utterly astute and profound in only a phrase. One of my favorites of his books is entitled Letters to Children, which is actually not a book he wrote at all, but a collection of letters he wrote back to children who had written him about their love of his books. In one of the letters, he gives the writer this advice (I am paraphrasing because I can't remember the exact words): "Never tell your reader that something is beautiful. Describe it in such a way that the reader says 'Wow - that's beautiful.'" YES!
- I believe in God like I believe in the sun, not because I can see it, but because of it all things are seen. -C.S. Lewis
I love the quote because it's so true. The sun is essential to life on Earth, and the same is true of God. God is what makes all things tick. It's in Him that we and all things move and have being (Acts 17:28). It's a beautiful picture. And I like it.
